The first two episodes of the third Underbelly instalment, to be shown as a telemovie when the show premieres in February, were broadcast to a select group of media in Sydney and Melbourne yesterday. With more sophistication and stronger storylines than Underbelly: A Tale Of Two Cities, this one intertwines the stories of former hooker Kim Hollingsworth and nightclub owner Ibrahim – without their paths ever crossing.

The 39-year-old comes up smelling of roses in the telemovie, as does prostitute-turned police cadet Hollingsworth, who is played with superb conviction by rising talent Emma Booth, 28.
Female audiences will warm to Hollingsworth’s story, beginning with her dreams of running away from the country to the big smoke, Kings Cross, to start a new life with her flaky cocaine-sniffing boyfriend Trent (Mark Furze) – before she is forced to turn to prostitution to pay the bills.
