FORMER ALP national president Michael Williamson allegedly tried to spirit away “relevant” documents during a police raid at the Sydney offices of the Health Services Union yesterday, prompting authorities to warn that anyone found to be interfering in the investigation could face criminal charges.

It is understood that soon after the raid began, Mr Williamson and another man – thought to be his son – were found at a nearby underground car park in possession of documents that had earlier been removed from the HSU office in Sydney’s CBD.

Mr Thomson faces separate allegations, which are being investigated by Victorian police, claiming he used his union credit card as national secretary for a $100,000-plus extravaganza of private spending on prostitutes, fine dining and overseas travel, claims he denies.
