Prices for hotels in major Australian cities fell, with Perth the only exception. Prices there rose a modest 1 per cent. Perth was Australia’s most expensive city, with an average price of $154 a night, while Cairns was the cheapest city, with an average of $117, compared with $127 in 2008. Sydney and Melbourne experienced drops of 16 per cent, down to $145 and $148 a night, respectively.
