The brothel owner, Phnom Penh-born Song Chhoung Ea, was arrested and charged with several offences carrying a maximum of 25 years’ imprisonment. The charges include conducting a business involving sexual servitude, facilitating entry of persons into Australia knowing they would be exploited and allowing persons to work knowing they were in breach of visa conditions.

Song Ea, 42, of Casula, was arrested and charged with multiple sex slavery offences after three young Thai women allegedly went to a local western Sydney Salvation Army shop asking for help.
The Australian Federal Police allege Ea lured the women to Sydney on student visas, but confiscated their passports once they arrived last year and took them to a Guildford brothel where they were kept against their will.

AFP officers raided five homes and businesses in Sydney’s southwest on Tuesday night. Ea was charged with conducting business involving sexual servitude, intending to cause another person to enter into debt bondage and facilitating the entry of persons to Australia with recklessness.

The 42-year-old, reported to be a Chinese-Cambodian, was arrested in Sydney overnight following a tip-off from a welfare agency working with the alleged victims, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) said.
“The AFP will allege the women were told they were travelling to Australia on student visas, but upon arrival had their passports confiscated and were taken to the brothel, where they were held against their will,” police said.
The man was charged with eight offences related to human trafficking and sex slavery, the most serious carrying a maximum 20-year jail term.

A MAN arrested during a police raid in Cabramatta on Wednesday night was allegedly trafficking women from Thailand to Australia.
Australian Federal Police arrested the man, 42, at his Fairview Rd home and charged him with trafficking three Thai women to work at his Sydney brothel.
Police will allege the women were told they were coming to Australia on student visas. On arrival, they had their passports confiscated and were held against their will at the brothel.
The women reported the alleged offences to police after seeking help with the Salvation Army.
Police also searched five homes at Canley Heights, Cabramatta, Guildford and Casula in relation to the matter.
The man was granted bail to face court at the Downing Centre on February 14.

A MAN has been charged with sex slavery and trafficking offences after police rescued three Thai women from Sydney brothels, including one at Casula, overnight.
Brothels at Guildford, Cabramatta and Canley Heights were also among those raided by immigration officials and federal and state police.
The 42-year-old man was granted bail and will face court at the Downing Centre on February 14.
The AFP will allege the women were told they were travelling to Australia on student visas, but on arrival had their passports confiscated and were taken to the brothel where they were held against their will.
The AFP originally received a referral from the Salvation Army after their staff identified victims, who then chose to speak to police.
All three victims have now been referred to the Australian Red Cross for entry into the Support for Victims of People Trafficking Program.

The owner of a Sydney brothel has been charged with human trafficking offences after the Salvation Army discovered three woman allegedly being held as sex slaves.
A 42-year-old Chinese-Cantonese man allegedly trafficked the young women from Thailand to work at his brothel in Guildford in Sydney’s west.
The Australian Federal Police will allege the women were told they were travelling to Australia on student visas but upon arrival had their passports confiscated and were taken to the brothel where they were held against their will.

Five search warrants were executed last night at the brothel as well as residential and business addresses in Cabramatta, Casula and Canley Heights.
The brothel owner was granted bail and will face court later this month on several charges.

The maximum potential penalty for the brothel owner is 25 years’ imprisonment.
